NSW: Fire at primary school deliberately lit: police

SYDNEY, Dec 10 AAP - A deliberately-lit fire has caused about $100,000 worth of damage
to a primary school in Sydney's north, police say.

Police have launched an investigation into the fire after neighbours of a primary school
in Mowbray Road, Lane Cove North, reported the blaze about 11.15pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

The fire in the school's former library was quickly extinguished and no one was in
the building at the time, police said.

"Initial inquiries at the scene indicate the fire was deliberately lit, however, a
more thorough examination of the building will be undertaken today by forensic services
group officers," a NSW police statement said.
