NSW: Man dies, wife and two boys injured in car crash

SYDNEY, April 11 AAP - A man has died after a car crash in which his wife and two young
sons were seriously injured on the far north NSW coast.

Police said today the 32-year-old man may have taken ill when his Mitsubishi Pajero
left Minjungbal Road at Tweeds Head and slammed into a pole about 8.40pm (AEST) yesterday.

He died on the way to Tweed Heads Hospital.

His 29-year-old wife suffered a broken femur when she was thrown out of the rear passenger
seat and through the windscreen.

She was taken to Tweed Heads hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The six-year-old boy in the front passenger seat suffered head injuries and his eight-year-old
brother travelling in the rear seat sustained abdominal injuries.

The two boys were airlifted by CareFlight helicopter to Mater Children's Hospital in
Brisbane where they are in a stable condition.

Police said a post mortem examination would determine if the man suffered a medical
problem just before the crash.
