China Online Gaming Market Hit CNY15.6bn in H1
BEIJING, Aug 16, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- The Chinese online gaming market reached CNY 7.783 billion in the second quarter of 2010, slipping 0.5% from a quarter earlier, according to the latest data released by Analysys International.
In the first half of this year, the market amounted to CNY 15.6 billion, rising 8.3% from the second half of 2009 and 33.4% from a year ago, stepping into a temporary stagnancy.
Because Chinese online game companies are still backward in terms of R&D in contrast with their peers from the US, Japan and South Korea, most of them will choose to operate game products introduced from abroad.
Analysys International believes that the Chinese online gaming market will experience a period of adjustment and its overall growth will range from 4% to 8% in the second half year, gradually recovering.
Next year, the market will welcome an explosive growth and global online game giants like Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI), Electronic Arts (EA and Nasdaq: ERTS), Ubi Soft Entertainment and Sony Corporation (NYSE: SNE) will launch a string of game products.
