SG: Surf Snow Skate Girl Magazine Presents 2nd Annual 'Queen of Surf,' June 7, 2003, at Pacific Beach Pier, CA; Unique Surf Event Offers Something for Every Age and Level of Female Enthusiast.

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. -- SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- SG: Surf Snow Skate Girl magazine is proud to present the 2nd Annual Queen of Surf, June 7 at Pacific Beach Pier (Felspar Street), California. This unique, day-long event offers something for every level of surf enthusiast with professional and amateur competition, surf instruction from Op Girls Learn to Ride, charity fundraising for the Boarding for Breast Cancer Foundation (B4BC), and even a "hot guy contest" for the magazine's "Babewatch" section. Top-rated professional female surfers will go head to head at this Southern California stop on the 2003 Foster's Pro Surfing Tour.

SG magazine is the world's leading action-sports and lifestyle magazine for girls. "We are excited to offer a surf contest of this caliber just for the girls," says Robyn Lass, SG's editor. "Dedicated to providing coverage of professional and amateur female athletes, our goal at SG is to continue to grow the sports of surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding through our 'Queen of' series."

SG's Queen of Surf will be one of 10 events on the 2003 Foster's Pro Surfing Tour. It is the only standalone women's professional surfing event in the series. Located at a renowned surf break, the contest venue provides top surfers with key access to spectators and media. The event is currently rated as a 1 Star on the World Qualifying Series (WQS), a division of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP). Top athletes will compete in a field of 24 for $5,000 and points toward their overall WQS rating. In addition, leading amateurs from the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) will surf in an Expression Session, and are scheduled to paddle out before the professional final heat.

Another important element of the 2nd Annual Queen of Surf is the Op Girls Learn to Ride, a series of girls-only action-sports clinics designed to give females of all ages the basic skills and confidence necessary to participate in skateboarding, surfing, motocross, wakeboarding, and snowboarding with more than 45 events throughout the United States and Canada. Surf instruction for all ages is available at Queen of the Beach, adjacent to contest site.

Best of all, SG's Queen of Surf has partnered with the Boarding for Breast Cancer Foundation (B4BC), a nonprofit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fundraising foundation. B4BC's mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and the value of a healthy lifestyle surrounded by the passions of today's youth culture. Through raffle items and other donations, SG hopes to raise funds and awareness for the organization.

The day's festivities will also include a "Babewatch Search." Guys between the ages of 18 and 25 will have the chance to go before a panel of judges and win their debut in the pages of SG. SG staffers as well as other guest judges will select one hottie to be featured in the "Babewatch" section of an upcoming issue of the magazine. After a day of riding and competing, the Queen of Surf will be crowned at the post-party, held nearby.

The Queen of Surf is the water element to a series of board-riding events created by SG in support of female board sports and culture. Through SG's dedication to action-sports and lifestyle, the magazine held a successful snow counterpart, Queen of the Mountain, on February 22, 2003.
