Fed: Factbox on ABARE crop forecasts

Some of the main forecasts made by ABARE in its crop forecast report today.

* Total winter crop to fall to 16.2 million tonnes, a decline of 21 million tonnes.

* Wheat crop forecast 9.9 million tonnes, down 14 million tonnes on last season's production.

* Barley crop forecast 3.2 million tonnes, down 4.2 million tonnes or 58 per cent.

* Total summer crop production forecast to be two million tonnes, the smallest cropsince 1982/83.

* Rice crop expected to fall 70 per cent to 380,000 tonnes, the smallest rice cropsince the mid-1970s.

* Cotton production expected to fall 65 per cent to 238,000 tonnes of lint.
