FED:Ludwig tells farmers to be optimistic

CANBERRA, Jan 10 AAP - Federal Agriculture Minister Joe Ludwig insists there's still
reason for optimism despite floods devastating the rural sector.

Senator Ludwig held a teleconference with his state and territory counterparts on Monday,
the first of what should be many meetings to gauge the full scope of the damage.

The ministers and the National Farmers Federation were told prospects for the summer
crop were still high, based on information from the government's agricultural forecaster.
